For those organized, type-A personalities out there, you’ll love this one. Make a list or a few lists before your trip to make sure you are organized and have everything you will need. This will help, especially when you go to the grocery store to buy food and can go directly off your list, without picking up anything extra that is just extra money spent. Consider the location and time of year that you’ll be camping – is it near the beach or in the mountains, or during the winter or summer? Sticking to a list keeps you from buying unnecessary items and from bringing along more than you need.
Organize Camping Gear
Figure out what you need, what you already have, and what you have to get for your trip. If there are important items you will need to buy, check around to see if friends or family have any that you could borrow. For example, if you don’t have a tent and don’t necessarily plan to go camping very often, then there is no need to buy an expensive tent. See if you can borrow one, or try to buy one second hand from Craigslist or a similar site.
If you are organized and prepared, then you’ll figure out where you can save and where to spend. Be resourceful with items that you can borrow (cooler, tent) and make sure to take good care of what you borrow so if you need to use it again one day, you’ll be able to! When it comes to camping, the important thing is to make sure you have what you need so you can enjoy your vacation and spending time with those around you.
